A serious incident took place at HMP Swansea shortly before 11am this morning, where an autistic prisoner on D Wing was reportedly held at knife point by three other inmates.

The weapon used is believed to have been homemade.

All three prisoners involved have since been moved to the segregation unit. However, HMP Swansea is known to have a limited number of cells in its segregation unit, which poses an ongoing security risk.

When serious incidents occur, the prison may struggle to safely separate individuals due to space constraints.

We understand the victim was taken to hospital following the attack.

He suffered injuries to his face after being knocked unconscious and stamped on during a robbery.

The attackers reportedly targeted him to steal his canteen items.

The victim, who is autistic, has been left deeply shaken and is now fearing for his life. According to sources close to the case, he has expressed thoughts of wanting to take his own life following the assault.

His family are extremely concerned for his welfare and have urgently called for him to be moved to a safer location.

The prison has been contacted with a formal request to relocate the victim for his own protection. It is not yet clear whether this request has been acted upon.

HMP Prisons Justice Group has contacted the Ministry of Justice for a right to reply, which they have declined to comment on.

This incident has raised serious questions about the safety of inmates at HMP Swansea and how inmates managed to get hold of a weapon.

Campaigners are calling for a full review of safety procedures and better protections for vulnerable individuals in custody.

This follows 4 inmates dying at the establishment over the last 10months.

The injuries sustained by the victim are dire, with a potential permenant and long lasting injury to the victims eye.

Hmp prisons justice group understands that South Wales Police have taken a statement of the victim and a police investigation is currently underway on allegations of gracious bodily harm with intent a offence under section 18.

Miguel Ada, of Claude Road in Cardiff, the attacker a convicted drug dealer was recently convicted of drug supply in Wales following a lengthy investigation into a drugs ring in Pembrokeshire.

In relation to the prosecution of this attack, we have learnt that the victim is currently been prevented from making a statement by South Wales Police.

Reports confirm that the victim has made numerous requests to make a statement of this attack, adding further concern to the effectiveness and appropriate execution of fair justice for such complainants.

Hmp Swansea, a b cat local prison holding approx 450 inmates most of which are remand, short term convicted and recalled inmates has faced ever increasing alarm of recent times with episodes of failures in the duty of care and safeguarding of such people, it is without question this case and the circumstances within will do nothing to settle the public outrage cast towards this establishment as a result of the consistent and repeatative failures.

The escalation into the behaviours raises with this case sets in stone serious questions about the safety of such vulnerable inmates at the prisons like hmp swansea which reside in a place they are suppose to be safe.

Hmp prisons justice group further exclusively reveals that the main attacker was recently involved in other additional attacks at the jail recently spending numerous periods of time in the segregation unit due to his violent thuggish behaviour and attitude at the jail.

A statement provided by Chantelle Jenkins a close relative of the victim confirms the emotional suffering this event has taken on the family.

In a statement provided to hmp prisons justice group chantelle Jenkins said:

“What happened to my brother this morning has brought back flashbacks of when my son lost his dad in Parc Prison

I’ve cried nonstop to the point I felt like I’m not a good enough sister—unable to protect my innocent brother, who’s due to be out next week as he’s not guilty. Everything that happened today has brought my mental health to zero, to the point I was going to harm myself because I felt useless and like there’s no reason for me to be here anymore.

There’s been so much going on since my brother was falsely put into prison on remand by an ex due to made-up allegations, which everyone now knows were lies.

The prison has not done any of the 27 welfare checks I’ve requested for my brother since he’s been in HMP Swansea. My anxiety has hit the roof. I’m the one who has to deal with it all—I struggle, but I make sure my brother doesn’t go without.

To find out this attack was because certain bullies wanted my brother’s canteen—it was all planned by my brother’s last padmate before he was moved to high risk due to his mental health and being autistic.

The last visit I had with my brother, I kicked off because a biggish woman screw with brown hair laughed at my brother when he said he wants to kill himself. I’ve never known Swansea to be this bad. They’ve been trying to keep me quiet for too long now, and after what happened to my brother today, I will never stay quiet again.

It’s been made known that the bully who threatened my brother with a knife has also done it to other inmates.

I’ve constantly been crying. I just didn’t know what to do, so I had to contact Zack Griffiths from the hmp prisons justice  group, and they’ve all been amazing.

He’s taken time out to listen to me in such a state, and the fact he went to the prison with the team to do the live on this matter shows the group really cares.

Yes, the prison did act as they should—but if the bully is known to do what he does, why put someone who’s autistic and vulnerable on the same wing as these bullies?

I won’t stay quiet anymore. I want to take legal action against all of this and make sure no other family has to wake up to a phone call from their loved one in fear, begging to send money so they don’t get stabbed. And yes, people can assume drugs—but my brother passed a piss test three days ago! So that shows he’s not on drugs.

It made me feel lost. I honestly don’t know how I’m going to survive this next week until my innocent brother is home. I’m a mum, and it’s sad that my son could have also lost his uncle today through HMP prison—just like he lost his dad. What more has it got to take to keep prisoners safe? Because not everyone in prison is GUILTY”

Further updates are expected as this case.
